Prisoners

Kent has seven prisons. Three in the West Kent Primary Care Trust (PCT) area (HMPs Blantyre House, East Sutton Park and Maidstone) and four in the Eastern and Coastal Kent PCT area (HMPs Canterbury, Elmley, Standford Hill and Swaleside). Medway has a young offenders institution and HMP Rochester, you can find more information on the 'Justice' website prison finder.

Prisoners may have specific health needs. Issues affecting the health of prisoners includes, blood-born viruses such as Hepatitis B & C, HIV/Aids, increased levels of smoking, higher rates of substance misuse including alcohol and an increased likelihood of experiencing mental health problems.
